Jerry Samp, Vice President/Investments

Jerry has extensive experience in the financial industry.  He was a bank examiner and an administrator with a bank regulatory agency in Missouri.  He was a commercial lender and bank president of two Missouri banks and one bank in Lawrence, Kansas.  Jerry began his wealth management career with A.G. Edwards in Lawrence in 1998 serving as a financial advisor and as the producing branch manager.  He joined UBS Financial Services in 2007 and became part of Stifel in 2009, when the Lawrence UBS office was acquired by Stifel.

Jerry uses his background to assist individuals and small business owners in investment planning, retirement programs, and estate planning strategies.  He focuses on strategic and tactical portfolio allocation.  He helps clients allocate their assets in accordance with their personal goals, objectives, and risk tolerance.  While asset allocation does not ensure a profit and may not protect against loss, it can play a key role in establishing a sound investment strategy and reducing risk.

In recommending a particular investment, Jerry uses traditional fundamental evaluation, asset allocation, and employs technical analysis that allows him to examine the relationship between supply and demand in the markets.  Just as tomatoes cost more during the winter because supply is limited, the price of investments is affected by supply and demand.  Using Point and Figure methodology, Jerry evaluates price relationships, trying to minimize the emotion in investing.
